Description

DEVIZES Size aprox 22”x16” is a limited edition print of 200 numbered and signed by the artist and is available at £30 which includes p&p The Devizes branch was opened in 1857 and ran from Thingley junction to Westbury. Originally it was classed as a branch line, and then a semi-fast mainline working for 38 years before its original status was re introduced. During both World Wars, it was to play its part in providing the military with means of transporting equipment and Prisoners of War to various camps on Salisbury plain. This lovely painting by Robin Pinnock depicts the station still in its GWR livery in the late 1950’s with a stopping train to Westbury, these “Castle Class” locomotives with their gleaming green paintwork and copper top chimney’s made a wonderful sight and the whole Devizes station has been wonderfully portrayed in this timepiece picture
