Description
Cross Country Veteran
The British Rail class 47 diesels were built between 1962-1968 by Brush Traction and saw service for over 40 years despite the introduction of new types of locomotives. 512 were built at Crewe and the Brush Works at Loughborough. As of 2010 99 examples are still in use on mainline duty with further examples on heritage railways.
47840 North Star is seen in this painting by Neville Robinson working cross country with a rake of early “Virgin” livery coaching stock. The print is approx 15 x12 inches (image) and is part of a set of other early diesels by the same artist
